पापात्म-धर्मात्म-लक्षणम् तथा निर्वेदेन मोक्षमार्गः | Marks of the Sinful and the Righteous; Dispassion (Nirveda) as a Path to Liberation
एवं स गौतमस्तत्र प्रीतः पुत्रस्य भारत । कर्मणा तेन कौरव्य चिरकारितया तथा
evaṃ sa gautamas tatra prītaḥ putrasya bhārata | karmaṇā tena kauravya cirakāritayā tathā ||
Assim, ali Gautama ficou satisfeito com seu filho, ó Bhārata—satisfeito por aquele feito, ó Kauravya, e igualmente pelo esforço paciente e prolongado que o sustentou.
भीष्म उवाच
Righteous action (karma) performed with patience and sustained effort earns the approval of elders and supports dharma; virtue is shown not only in the deed but in steadfast perseverance.
Bhīṣma continues a dharma-illustration, stating that the sage Gautama became pleased with his son because of the son’s deed and the long, persevering manner in which it was carried out.
