Adhyāya 262: Śabda-brahman, Para-brahman, and the Ethics of Tyāga
Kapila–Syūmaraśmi Saṃvāda
अतीव पुण्यदं पुण्यं पुण्याभिजनसंहितम् । यत्र गत्वा न शोचन्ति न च्यवन्ति व्यथन्ति च,भवसागरसे पार उतरनेकी इच्छावाले कोई-कोई ज्ञान-विज्ञानसम्पन्न महात्मा पुरुष ही अत्यन्त पवित्र और पुण्यात्माओंसे सेवित पुण्यदायक ब्रह्मलोकको प्राप्त होते हैं, जहाँ जाकर वे न तो शोक करते हैं, न वहाँसे नीचे गिरते हैं और न मनमें किसी प्रकारकी व्यथाका ही अनुभव करते हैं
atīva puṇyadaṃ puṇyaṃ puṇyābhijanasaṃhitam | yatra gatvā na śocanti na cyavanti vyathanti ca ||
Chūlādhāra disse: “Há um estado supremamente santificador, puro em si mesmo e doador de mérito, associado à companhia dos verdadeiramente virtuosos. Tendo-o alcançado, não se entristece, não se decai dele e não se sofre qualquer aflição interior.”
चुलाधार उवाच
The verse praises the highest spiritually meritorious attainment: reaching a pure, exalted state (often identified with Brahmaloka) where the marks of worldly bondage—grief, decline from one’s attainment, and mental anguish—no longer arise. Ethical purity and association with the virtuous are implied as supports for such attainment.
Chūlādhāra is speaking within the Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation-oriented values. Here he describes the fruit of the highest spiritual path: arrival at an exalted realm/state characterized by freedom from sorrow, instability, and inner suffering.
