न मया सदृशो<स्तीह लोके स्थावरजड़मे । अप्सु वैहायसं गच्छेन्मया यो<न्य: सहेति वै,इस चराचर जगतमें मेरे सिवा ऐसा कोई दूसरा मनुष्य नहीं है, जो मेरे साथ जलमें विचरने और आकाशकमें घूमने-फिरनेकी शक्ति रखता हो
na mayā sadṛśo 'stīha loke sthāvara-jaḍame | apsu vaihāyasaṃ gacchen mayā yo 'nyaḥ saheti vai ||
Bhishma disse: “Neste mundo de seres móveis e imóveis, não há ninguém como eu. Nenhuma outra pessoa tem o poder de acompanhar-me, seja ao vagar pelas águas, seja ao mover-se pelo céu.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights exceptional capability and unmatched status, implicitly warning that rare powers or attainments are not common and should be understood within the broader frame of dharma—strength or siddhi alone does not define righteousness, but it can shape responsibility and authority in counsel.
Bhishma, speaking in the Shanti Parva’s instructional setting, asserts that no one in the world equals him in the ability to move with him through water and through the sky—an emphatic claim of extraordinary prowess used to underline his unique standing.
