अहिंसा-प्रधान धर्मविचारः

अधर्मो नास्ति ते मृत्यो संयच्छेमा: प्रजा: शुभे | मया हाक्त मृषा भद्रे भविता नेह किंचन,“मृत्यो! तुम इन प्रजाओंका संहार करो। शुभे! इससे तुम्हें पाप नहीं लगेगा। भद्रे! मेरी कही हुई कोई भी बात यहाँ झूठी नहीं हो सकती

adharmo nāsti te mṛtyo saṁyacchemāḥ prajāḥ śubhe | mayā hy uktaṁ mṛṣā bhadre bhavitā neha kiṁcana ||

Bhīṣma disse: “Ó Morte, nenhuma injustiça recairá sobre ti. Ó auspiciosa, contém (ou retém) estas criaturas. Ó gentil, nada do que eu disse aqui poderá jamais revelar-se falso.”
