यावानात्मनि वेदात्मा तावानात्मा परात्मनि । य एवं सततं वेद सो<मृतत्त्वाय कल्पते

yāvān ātmani vedātmā tāvān ātmā parātmani | ya evaṃ satataṃ veda so 'mṛtatvāya kalpate ||

Vyāsa disse: “Assim como o Si —cuja própria natureza é conhecimento— está presente no próprio corpo, assim o mesmo Si está presente nos corpos dos outros. Aquele em quem esse entendimento permanece constante torna-se apto a alcançar a imortalidade.”

The verse teaches the sameness of the Self in oneself and in others: realizing the same consciousness in all beings, and sustaining that realization, qualifies one for amṛtatva—deathlessness or liberation.
