Gṛhastha-vṛtti and Niyama: Models of Householder Livelihood and Discipline (गृहस्थवृत्ति-नियमाः)
निमेषोन्मेषफेनेन अहोरात्रजलेन च । कामग्राहेण घोरेण वेदयज्ञप्लवेन च
vyāsa uvāca | nimeṣonmeṣaphenena ahorātrajalenaca | kāmagrāheṇa ghoreṇa vedayajñaplavena ca ||
Vyāsa disse: O Tempo, tomando a forma de um grande rio, continua a fluir. Sua espuma é feita do piscar e do abrir dos olhos; sua corrente é o curso do dia e da noite. Nele espreita o terrível crocodilo do desejo, enquanto os Vedas e os ritos sacrificiais são como uma jangada para atravessar.
