The verse praises a model of righteous conduct: faith (śraddhā), mastery over anger, habitual generosity, refusal to disparage others’ good qualities, and freedom from envy—paired with responsible support of one’s dependents and public duties.
Śakra (Indra) is describing the character of exemplary people, highlighting their inner discipline and social responsibility as marks of dharmic life, especially in the context of Śānti Parva’s ethical instruction.
