तेन शक्र न शोचामि नास्ति शोके सहायता । इन्द्र! जो कालके प्रभावको जानता है, वह उससे आक्रान्त होकर भी शोक नहीं करता; क्योंकि विपत्ति दूर करनेमें शोकसे कोई सहायता नहीं मिलती, इसलिये मैं शोक नहीं करता हूँ
tena śakra na śocāmi nāsti śoke sahāyatā |
Bhishma disse: “Por isso, ó Śakra (Indra), não me aflijo. No luto não há auxílio. Quem compreende o poder do Tempo não lamenta mesmo quando é abatido por ele, pois a tristeza não remove a adversidade.”
भीष्म उवाच
Grief is not an effective instrument for overcoming misfortune; understanding the sovereignty of Kāla (Time) leads to steadiness and non-lamentation even amid suffering.
Bhīṣma addresses Śakra (Indra), explaining why he does not grieve: he recognizes that events are driven by Time’s power, and that lamentation provides no practical aid in removing adversity.
