ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana

न चेदमचलं स्थानमनन्तं वापि कस्यचित् । त्वं तु बालिशया बुद्धया ममेदमिति मन््यसे
na cedam acalaṁ sthānam anantaṁ vāpi kasyacit | tvaṁ tu bāliśayā buddhyā mamedam iti manyase ||
Bhishma disse: Esta posição não é inabalável, nem é interminável para quem quer que seja. Contudo, tu, com entendimento infantil e iludido, imaginas: “Isto é meu”. Nem mesmo a soberania de Indra jamais se provou permanente; muitos a detiveram e passaram. Portanto, não te apegues ao poder como se fosse posse—reconhece sua transitoriedade e age com humildade e segundo o dharma.
