ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana

काल:काले नयति मां त्वां च कालो नयत्ययम् । तेनाहं त्वं यथा नाद्य त्वं चापि न यथा वयम्
kālaḥ kāle nayati māṁ tvāṁ ca kālo nayaty ayam | tenāhaṁ tvaṁ yathā nādya tvaṁ cāpi na yathā vayam ||
Bhīṣma disse: “O Tempo, em sua própria estação, leva-me consigo, e esse mesmo Tempo também te leva. Por isso, hoje eu não sou como tu és, e tu também não és como nós somos—o Tempo nos colocou em condições diferentes, concedendo-te dias favoráveis enquanto me arrasta para a adversidade.”
