एक: शास्ता न द्वितीयो<5स्ति शास्ता गर्भ शयानं पुरुषं शास्ति शास्ता । तेनानुयुक्त: प्रवणादिवोदकं यथा नियुक्तोडस्मि तथा वहामि
bhīṣma uvāca | ekaḥ śāstā na dvitīyo 'sti śāstā garbhaśayānaṁ puruṣaṁ śāsti śāstā | tenānuyuktaḥ pravaṇādivodakaṁ yathā niyukto 'smi tathā vahāmi ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Há um único Governante—não existe um segundo. Esse mesmo Regedor dirige até o ser que jaz no ventre. Movido por Sua determinação, o vivente segue na direção que Ele pretende—assim como a água, por sua natureza, corre para o terreno mais baixo. Do mesmo modo, eu também carrego o fardo que me foi destinado, conforme o impulso e o comando desse Senhor.”
