Examination of Faults and Discernment of the Guṇas
एतस्याद्या प्रवृत्तिस्तु प्रधानात् सम्प्रवर्तते । द्वितीया मिथुनव्यक्तिमविशेषान्नियच्छति
etasyādyā pravṛttis tu pradhānāt sampravartate | dvitīyā mithuna-vyaktim aviśeṣān niyacchati ||
Disse Bhīṣma: “O primeiro desdobramento desse conjunto de princípios procede de Pradhāna (a Natureza primordial). Depois, numa segunda fase, sua manifestação é regulada—saindo do estado indiferenciado para uma expressão em pares (macho–fêmea), segundo a lei da geração.”
