अपन का छा | अफ्-४#-रू- जा तर्याधिकद्विशततमो< ध्याय: शरीर

manur uvāca | yad indriyaiḥ tūpahitaṃ purastāt prāptān guṇān saṃsmarate cirāya | teṣv indriyeṣv apahateṣu paścāt sa buddhirūpaḥ paramaḥ svabhāvaḥ ||

Manu disse: “Aquele princípio consciente que outrora esteve associado aos sentidos, mais tarde—após longo tempo—recorda os objetos e qualidades que um dia experimentou. Mesmo quando os sentidos cessaram seu contato com tais objetos, a recordação ainda surge, pois as impressões permanecem inscritas no intelecto (buddhi). Assim, para além do corpo e dos sentidos, fica implícito um Eu superior e duradouro, o iluminador da cognição.”
