Adhyāya 199: Karma–Jñāna Causality and the Nirguṇa Brahman

Manu’s Instruction

तावुभौ सुभृशं तप्ती राजानमिदमूचतु: । परीक्ष्य त्वं यथा स्यावो नावामिह विगर्हिती,तब वे दोनों अत्यन्त संतप्त होकर राजासे इस प्रकार बोले--आप हमारे मामलेकी जाँच-पड़ताल करके फैसला कर दें, जिससे हम दोनों यहाँ दोषके भागी और निन्दाके पात्र नहों

tāv ubhau subhṛśaṃ taptī rājānam idam ūcatuḥ | parīkṣya tvaṃ yathā syāvo nāvām iha vigarhitī ||

Ambos, profundamente aflitos, dirigiram-se ao rei: “Rogamos que investigues o nosso caso e dês uma decisão, para que nenhum de nós aqui se torne culpável ou alvo de censura.”
