Adhyāya 199: Karma–Jñāna Causality and the Nirguṇa Brahman
Manu’s Instruction
समाप्ते नियमे तस्मिन्नथ विप्रस्थ धीमत: । साक्षात् प्रीतस्तदा धर्मो दर्शयामास तं द्विजम्,वह सदा मन और इन्द्रियोंको संयममें रखता था, क्रोधको जीत चुका था। अपनी की हुई प्रतिज्ञा सचाईके साथ पालन करता था और किसीके दोष नहीं देखता था। बुद्धिमान् ब्राह्मणगका वह नियम पूर्ण होनेपर साक्षात् भगवान् धर्म उस समय उसपर बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और उन्होंने उसे प्रत्यक्ष दर्शन दिया
samāpte niyame tasminn atha viprastha dhīmataḥ | sākṣāt prītastadā dharmo darśayāmāsa taṃ dvijam ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Quando se completou a disciplina votiva daquele sábio brāhmaṇa, o próprio Dharma—manifesto e visível—agradou-se e concedeu ao duas-vezes-nascido uma audiência pessoal.”
भीष्म उवाच
Righteousness is not merely discussed but realized: when a person completes disciplined observance with self-restraint, truthfulness, and freedom from anger and fault-finding, Dharma ‘appears’—meaning ethical integrity culminates in clear, direct confirmation of the right path.
After the wise brahmin finishes his prescribed niyama (vowed discipline), Dharma, pleased with his conduct, manifests directly and grants him a personal vision/audience.
