Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy (भृगु–भरद्वाज संवादः)

अनियतफलभक्ष्यभोज्यपेयं विधिपरिणामविभक्तदेशकालम्‌ | हृदयसुखमसेवितं कदर्य- ब्रीतमिदमाजगरं शुचिश्नचरामि

bhīṣma uvāca | aniyata-phalabhakṣya-bhojya-peyaṁ vidhi-pariṇāma-vibhakta-deśa-kālam | hṛdaya-sukham asevitaṁ kadarya-vrītam idaṁ ājagaraṁ śuciśn carāmi |

Bhishma disse: “Este voto ‘como o da píton’ é agradável ao meu coração. Nele não há arranjo fixo para frutos, alimento, refeição ou bebida; o que vier sem ser chamado, isso por si só sustenta. Conforme o amadurecimento do destino, lugar e tempo são repartidos. Homens vis, ávidos por objetos dos sentidos, não o assumem; eu pratico este voto em pureza.”
