काम जानामि ते मूलं संकल्पात् किल जायसे । न त्वां संकल्पयिष्यामि समूलो न भविष्यसि,“काम! मैं तेरी जड़को जानता हूँ। निश्चय ही तू संकल्पसे उत्पन्न होता है। अब मैं तेरा संकल्प ही नहीं करूँगा, जिससे तू समूल नष्ट हो जायगा
kāma jānāmi te mūlaṃ saṅkalpāt kila jāyase | na tvāṃ saṅkalpayiṣyāmi samūlo na bhaviṣyasi ||
Bhishma disse: “Ó Desejo, conheço a tua própria raiz: tu nasces, de fato, do saṅkalpa — a resolução da mente. Não mais alimentarei essa resolução; então não permanecerás — arrancado pela raiz, cessarás.”
