(Nirveda-Upadeśa) — Maṅki’s Dispassion and the Limits of Wealth-Seeking

Educational Q&A

A ruler committed to dharma actively seeks practical means to relieve a supplicant’s distress, using legitimate relationships and resources to ensure welfare; ethical governance includes responsibility for others’ well-being and reliable fulfillment of promises.

At daybreak, King Dharma directs a brahmin to travel a specific route to a nearby city, where the king’s powerful friend Virūpākṣa lives; Dharma assures the brahmin that, on his recommendation, Virūpākṣa will provide the requested wealth and fulfill the brahmin’s desires.
