The Instruction on Non-ownership and Renunciation
सामुद्रिकान् स वणिजस्ततो<पश्यत् स्थितान् पथि । स तेन सह सार्थन प्रययौ सागरं प्रति,रास्तेमें उसने देखा कि समुद्रके आस-पास रहनेवाले कुछ व्यापारी वैश्य ठहरे हुए हैं। वह उन्हींके दलके साथ हो लिया और समुद्रकी ओर जाने लगा
sāmudrikān sa vaṇijas tato 'paśyat sthitān pathi | sa tena saha sārthena prayayau sāgaraṃ prati ||
Bhishma disse: Então ele avistou na estrada um grupo de mercadores vaiśyas—homens ligados ao litoral—parados ali. Unindo-se à caravana, seguiu com eles em direção ao oceano.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights practical prudence within dharma: when undertaking a journey, one may seek the protection and discipline of a lawful community (a caravan), aligning one’s movement with social order and safety rather than solitary risk.
A traveler sees maritime-associated merchants halted on the road, joins their caravan, and continues with them toward the ocean.
