मृत्यु-काल-प्रबोधनम् (Instruction on Mortality, Time, and Truth) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 169
आत्मानं पीडयित्वापि सुहृत्कार्यपरायणा: । विरज्यन्ति न मित्रेभ्यो वासो रक्तमिवाविकम्
ātmānaṃ pīḍayitvāpi suhṛt-kārya-parāyaṇāḥ | virajyanti na mitrebhyo vāso raktam ivāvikam ||
Disse Bhīṣma: Mesmo quando precisam afligir a si próprios, aqueles devotados a realizar o bem de um amigo não se afastam dos amigos—assim como um tecido de lã não perde a tintura que nele se entranhou.
