Tri-varga Deliberation: Dharma, Artha, Kāma
अवाचिनोति कर्माणि न च सम्प्रचिनोति ह । सम: सर्वेषु भूतेषु मैत्रायणगतिक्चरेत्,वह उपभोगद्वारा प्रारब्ध-कर्मोंकोी क्षीण करता है और कर्तृत्वाभिमान तथा फलासक्तिसे शून्य होनेके कारण नूतन कर्मोका संचय नहीं करता है। सभी प्राणियोंमें समानभाव रखकर सबको मित्रकी भाँति अभयदान देता हुआ विचरता है
avācinoti karmāṇi na ca sampracīnōti ha | samaḥ sarveṣu bhūteṣu maitrāyaṇagatiś caret ||
Bhīṣma disse: Ele apenas esgota os atos já postos em movimento e não acumula atos novos. Mantendo-se equânime para com todos os seres, move-se pelo mundo com disposição amistosa—concedendo a todos a destemor como a um amigo.
भीष्म उवाच
A liberated or disciplined person lives out only the already-begun karmic momentum (prārabdha) without creating new karmic bondage, because he is free from doership-ego and attachment to results; he practices impartiality and universal friendliness, giving others a sense of safety.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira about the conduct of the wise: how one should live in the world—calm, non-accumulative in karma, and benevolent toward all beings.
