ये नृशंसा दुरात्मान: प्राणिप्राणहरा नरा: । उद्बवेजनीया भूतानां व्याला इव भवन्ति ते
ye nṛśaṃsā durātmānaḥ prāṇiprāṇaharā narāḥ | udvejanīyā bhūtānāṃ vyālā iva bhavanti te ||
Disse Bhishma: Aqueles homens cruéis e de coração perverso, que tiram a vida dos seres vivos, tornam-se objeto de medo e repulsa para todas as criaturas—como serpentes venenosas. O ensinamento é que a violência nascida da crueldade isola a pessoa da comunidade moral: tal vida a torna universalmente temida, não respeitada.
