Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti

Educational Q&A

Do not expect steady loyalty from a bad friend: such bonds are inherently unstable, and when self-interest shifts, a tainted relationship quickly turns into disrespect and humiliation.

Brahmadatta states a moral observation within the Shanti Parva’s instruction on right conduct: he warns that association with an unworthy friend cannot remain constant, and that corrupt ties tend to produce insult when interests diverge.
