Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
Wise counsel should be 'pathyam' (wholesome) and 'ātmahitam' (truly beneficial), and discernment is required to recognize and address impure or misguided intentions without abandoning ethical clarity.
In Bhishma’s narration, Palita—described as wise—responds to a cat who speaks hastily. Palita’s reply is framed as salutary advice directed toward genuine welfare, implying a corrective response to the cat’s flawed understanding and impure motive.
