ततोड<र्थगतितत्त्वज्ञ: संधिविग्रहकालवित्‌ | सान्त्वपूर्वमिदं वाक्‍्यं मार्जारं मूषिकोडब्रवीत्‌

Transliteration

tato 'rthagati-tattvajñaḥ sandhi-vigraha-kāla-vit | sāntva-pūrvam idaṃ vākyaṃ mārjāraṃ mūṣiko 'bravīt ||

Translation

Então o rato—que compreendia de fato o curso da vantagem e os princípios dos meios eficazes, e que sabia quando buscar aliança e quando entrar em conflito—ponderou as intenções do inimigo. Desejando primeiro apaziguar, dirigiu-se ao gato com palavras conciliadoras e doces, escolhendo a diplomacia como abertura ética e estratégica antes de qualquer caminho mais duro.
