अमित्रो मित्रतां याति मित्र चापि प्रदुष्यति । सामर्थ्ययोगात्‌ कार्याणामनित्या वै सदा गति:

Transliteration

amitraḥ mitratāṁ yāti mitraṁ cāpi praduṣyati | sāmarthyayogāt kāryāṇām anityā vai sadā gatiḥ ||

Translation

Bhīṣma disse: Pela força das circunstâncias mutáveis e das capacidades nos assuntos do mundo, um inimigo pode chegar ao estado de amizade, e até um amigo pode ser maculado pela hostilidade. Na verdade, o curso da inimizade e da amizade nunca fica fixado para sempre; ele muda continuamente conforme as condições.
