Kośa, Bala, and Maryādā: Treasury, Capacity, and Enforceable Limits (कोश-बल-मर्यादा)

धर्म प्राप्य न्यायवृत्ति न बलीयान्‌ न विन्दति । यस्माद्‌ बलस्योपपत्तिरेकान्तेन न विद्यते

dharmaṁ prāpya nyāyavṛttiṁ na balīyān na vindati | yasmād balasyopapattir ekāntena na vidyate ||

Bhīṣma disse: “Mesmo após alcançar o dharma, uma pessoa fraca não obtém necessariamente um sustento plenamente conforme à justiça. Pois a aquisição de força não é garantida de modo absoluto apenas pela prática do dharma. Por isso, em tempos de aflição, uma conduta que normalmente seria adharma às vezes é chamada de ‘dharma’ como concessão de emergência. Ainda assim, os sábios sustentam que, mesmo na calamidade, agir contra o dharma continua sendo adharma.”
