कुलं बहुधनामात्या: प्रज्ञा प्रोक्ता बलानि तु । आहार्यमष्ट कैद्रव्यै्बलमन्यद्‌ युधिष्ठिर

Transliteration

kulaṃ bahudhanāmātyāḥ prajñā proktā balāni tu | āhāryam aṣṭa dravyair balaṃ anyad yudhiṣṭhira ||

Translation

Bhishma disse: “Ó Yudhiṣṭhira, a força de um rei é descrita de duas maneiras—natural e adquirida. A força natural consiste nestas quatro: nobre linhagem, riqueza abundante, ministros capazes e inteligência perspicaz. A força adquirida é diferente; entende-se como óctupla, surgindo de oito recursos específicos.”
