Nakula’s Counsel on Yajña, Dāna, and Tyāga (नकुलोपदेशः—यज्ञदानत्यागविचारः)
ब्राह्मणा:श्रुतिसम्पन्नास्तानू निबोध नराधिप | यह गृहस्थ-आश्रम सब आश्रमोंसे ऊँचा है। यह बात वेदोंके सिद्धान्तको जाननेवाले श्रुतिसम्पन्न ब्राह्मण कहते हैं। नरेश्वरर आप उनकी सेवामें उपस्थित होकर इस बातको समझिये
brāhmaṇāḥ śrutisampannās tānū nibodha narādhipa | yaḥ gṛhasthāśramaḥ sarvāśramebhya ūrdhvaḥ | etad vedasiddhāntajñāḥ śrutisampannā brāhmaṇā vadanti | nareśvara, teṣāṃ sevāyāṃ upasthitaḥ san etad avagaccha ||
Nakula disse: “Ó rei, compreende isto a partir dos brâmanes consumados no saber védico. O estágio do chefe de família (gṛhastha) é tido como mais elevado do que todos os demais āśramas. É o que declaram os brâmanes versados nos Vedas e em suas conclusões estabelecidas. Portanto, ó senhor dos homens, assiste-os em serviço e apreende esta verdade.”
