Gratitude, Discernment, and the Escalation of Power (Śvā–Dvipī–Vyāghra–Nāga–Siṃha–Śarabha Itihāsa)
व्याप्रं दृष्टवा क्षुधाभुग्नं देष्टिणं वनगोचरम् । दडीपी जीवितरक्षार्थमृषिं शरणमेयिवान्
vyāghraṁ dṛṣṭvā kṣudhābhugnaṁ deṣṭiṇaṁ vanagocaram | dadīpī jīvitarakṣārtham ṛṣiṁ śaraṇam eyivān ||
Bhīṣma disse: Ao ver um tigre a vagar pela floresta—com o corpo enfraquecido pela fome e a intenção inclinada à crueldade—o leopardo, para resguardar a própria vida, voltou mais uma vez a buscar refúgio junto ao sábio. O episódio ressalta que, quando surgem o perigo e a predação, até os fortes abandonam o orgulho e retornam ao abrigo do dharma e da proteção.
