Vyāghra–Gomāyu Saṃvāda (व्याघ्रगोमायु संवाद) — Testing Character Beneath Appearances
त॑ स गोमायुरालोक्य स्नेहादागतसम्भ्रमम् । उवाच प्रणतो वाक््यं बाष्पगद्गदया गिरा,सियारने देखा, मालिकका हृदय स्नेहसे आकुल हो रहा है, तब उसने उसे प्रणाम करके अश्रुगद्वद वाणीसे इस प्रकार कहना आरम्भ किया--
taṁ sa gomāyur ālokya snehād āgata-sambhramam | uvāca praṇato vākyaṁ bāṣpa-gadgadayā girā ||
Disse Bhīṣma: Ao ver aquele chacal, cuja agitação nascera do afeto, ele se inclinou e começou a falar—com as palavras engasgadas e trêmulas, e a voz quebrada pelas lágrimas. A cena mostra como um apego profundo pode vencer a compostura e fazer a fala vacilar mesmo no instante de uma saudação respeitosa.
