बभूवामर्षितो राजा वध॑ चास्य व्यरोचयत् । सियारकी यह चपलता सुनकर शेर गुस्सेसे भर गया। उससे यह बात सही नहीं गयी; अतः मृगराजने उसका वध करनेका ही विचार कर लिया
babhūvāmṛṣito rājā vadhaṃ cāsya vyarocayat |
Disse Bhīṣma: O rei inflamou-se de indignação, e o pensamento de matá-lo pareceu-lhe agradável. Ao ouvir aquela leviandade imprópria do chacal, o leão encheu-se de ira; não pôde tolerá-la e, por isso, o senhor das feras resolveu dar-lhe morte.
