धननाशाद्‌ दुःखतरं जीवितादू विप्रयोजनम्‌ | अयं ते रोचतां धर्म इति वाच्य: प्रयत्नत:

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | dhananāśād duḥkhataraṃ jīvitād viprayojanam | ayaṃ te rocatāṃ dharma iti vācyaḥ prayatnataḥ |

Translation

Bhīṣma disse: “Mais doloroso do que a perda de riqueza é a separação da própria vida — tirar a vida. Portanto, que o dharma seja aquilo que tu estimas. Este ensinamento — ‘Que o dharma seja o teu deleite escolhido’ — deve ser transmitido aos perversos com esforço deliberado, para que sejam instruídos e contidos.”
