Nīti-upadeśa to a Rājaputra: Self-restraint, Alliances, and Rival-Management (नीतिउपदेशः)
अलभ्या ये शुभा भावा: स्त्रियश्चवाच्छादनानि च । शय्यासनानि यानानि महाहाणि गृहाणि च
alabhyā ye śubhā bhāvāḥ striyaś ca vācchādanāni ca | śayyāsanāni yānāni mahāhāṇi gṛhāṇi ca ||
Bhīṣma disse: “Os prazeres desejáveis e auspiciosos, difíceis de obter—mulheres, vestes finas para cobrir e adornar, leitos e assentos, veículos e casas custosas—são justamente os objetos com que se pode enredar um inimigo. Ao fomentar nele o apego a tais luxos, seus recursos se esgotam pouco a pouco, e ele cai em ruína por si mesmo.”
