Kṣemadarśa–Kālakavṛkṣīya Saṃvāda: Counsel on Impermanence, Non-attachment, and Composure in Dispossession

महाह्नद: संक्षुभित आत्मनैव प्रसीदति । (इत्थं नरो5प्यात्मनैव कृतप्रज्ञ: प्रसीदति ।) एतदेवंगतस्याहं सुखं पश्यामि जीवितुम्‌,जैसे क्षुब्ध हुआ महान्‌ सरोवर निर्मल हो जाता है, उसी प्रकार विशुद्ध बुद्धिवाला मनुष्य क्षुब्ध होनेपर भी निर्मल हो जाता है। अतः राजकुमार! इस अवस्थामें तुम्हारा इस रूपमें आ जाना; अर्थात्‌ तुम्हारे मनमें ऐसे विशुद्ध भावका उदय होना शुभ है। इस प्रकारके जीवनको ही मैं सुखमय समझता हूँ

mahāhradaḥ saṁkṣubhita ātmanaiva prasīdati | itthaṁ naro 'py ātmanaiva kṛtaprajñaḥ prasīdati | etad evaṁgatasya ahaṁ sukhaṁ paśyāmi jīvitum |

Bhīṣma disse: “Um grande lago, embora revolvido e perturbado, torna a ficar límpido por sua própria natureza. Do mesmo modo, a pessoa de entendimento firme e purificado recupera a calma e a clareza pelo próprio eu, mesmo depois de ter sido abalada. Portanto, ó príncipe, o fato de teres chegado a esta condição—o surgir de uma disposição pura em tua mente—é auspicioso. Só este tipo de vida considero verdadeiramente feliz.”
