भीष्म उवाच
Victory is not merely a matter of weapons or numbers; it is foretold by the moral quality of the fighters—service-mindedness, humility, mutual goodwill, and disciplined purity. Ethical cohesion and character are presented as strategic strength.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on governance and conduct, Bhishma advises about the qualities that indicate success in a ruler’s forces. He lists the virtues seen among warriors as auspicious omens of an impending victory.
