वहाँ व्यूह निर्माण करनेके लिये रथ और वाहनोंसे उतरना तथा पैदल सैनिकोंको छिपाकर रखना सम्भव है। वहाँ रहकर शत्रुओंके प्रहारका जवाब दिया जा सकता है और आपत्तिके समय छिप जानेका भी सुभीता रहता है ।। सप्तर्षीन् पृष्ठतः कृत्वा युध्येयुरचला इव । अनेन विधिना शत्रून् जिगीषेतापि दुर्जयान्,योद्धाओंको चाहिये कि वे सप्तर्षियोंको पीछे रखकर पर्वतकी तरह अविचलभावसे युद्ध करें। इस विधिसे आक्रमण करनेवाला राजा दुर्जय शत्रुओंको भी जीतनेकी आशा कर सकता है
saptarṣīn pṛṣṭhataḥ kṛtvā yudhyeyur acalā iva | anena vidhinā śatrūn jigīṣetāpi durjayān ||
Bhishma disse: “Ali é possível descer dos carros e veículos para formar o vyūha (a formação de batalha) e manter a infantaria oculta. Dali pode-se responder aos golpes do inimigo, e, no tempo do perigo, há também facilidade para esconder-se. Que os guerreiros lutem com os Sete Sábios (Saptarishi) resguardados atrás deles, firmes como montanhas. Por este método de formação e de constância no combate, um rei atacante ainda pode esperar vencer até inimigos difíceis de conquistar.”
भीष्म उवाच
Steadfastness and correct tactical arrangement are presented as dharmic instruments of victory: by placing a revered, stabilizing support at the rear (symbolized by the Saptarshis) and fighting without wavering, even formidable opponents can be overcome.
In Bhishma’s instruction on governance and warfare in the Shanti Parva, he advises a specific battle posture/array: keep the ‘Saptarshis’ behind as a stabilizing rear-support and engage the enemy with mountain-like firmness, thereby increasing the chance of victory against difficult foes.
