वादित्राणां च घोषेण शड्खानां निनदेन च | अभवन्नादिता भूमिर्निर्धातैिरिव भारत
vāditrāṇāṃ ca ghoṣeṇa śaṅkhānāṃ ninadena ca | abhavannāditā bhūmir nirdhātair iva bhārata ||
Disse Sañjaya: Com o brado profundo dos instrumentos e o chamado ressoante das conchas, ó Bhārata, a terra pareceu trovejar—reverberando como se fosse atingida por relâmpagos repetidos. A cena transmite como a maquinaria da guerra domina o mundo com ruído e força, prenunciando o peso moral e a devastação que se seguem quando os exércitos avançam para a batalha.
