द्रौणि: क्रोधेन जज्वाल यथा वदल्विर्जगत्क्षये । राजा दुर्योधनको शोकके आँसू बहाते देख अश्वत्थामा प्रलयकालकी अग्निके समान क्रोधसे प्रजजलित हो उठा

drauṇiḥ krodhena jajvāla yathā vaḍavāgnir jagatkṣaye |
Sañjaya disse: Drauṇi (Aśvatthāmā), ao ver o rei Duryodhana dominado pelo luto e derramando lágrimas, inflamou-se de ira como o fogo submarino no fim do mundo. A cena ressalta como a dor e a derrota podem provocar uma cólera destrutiva, apocalíptica, que eclipsa a contenção e o dharma no pós-guerra.
