मोघं दुर्योधनश्षक्रे तत्रा भूद् विस््मयो महान् । परंतु महाबली दुर्योधनको इससे तनिक भी घबराहट नहीं हुई। उसने फुर्तीसे इधर-उधर होकर उस प्रहारको व्यर्थ कर दिया। यह देख वहाँ सब लोगोंको महान् आश्चर्य हुआ ।। ४७ न् |! सा तु मोघा गदा राजन् पतन्ती भीमचोदिता,चालयामास पृथिवीं महानिर्घातनि:स्वना । राजन! भीमसेनकी चलायी हुई वह गदा जब व्यर्थ होकर गिरने लगी, उस समय उसने वज्रपातके समान महान् शब्द प्रकट करके पृथ्वीको हिला दिया
sa tu moghā gadā rājan patantī bhīmacoditā | cālayāmāsa pṛthivīṃ mahānirghātaniḥsvanā ||
Sañjaya disse: Ó rei, aquela maça, arremessada por Bhîmasena, caiu sem efeito. Ao tombar em vão, ressoou como o estrondo de um raio e fez tremer a terra com um bramido tremendo nascido do impacto. Ao ver isso, todos ali ficaram tomados de grande assombro.
