दिव्या मनोरमा: पुण्या: कथा: शुआव सा तदा । अतीता सा त्वनावृष्टिर्घोरा द्वादशवार्षिकी,“उस समय उसे परम पवित्र मनोहर एवं दिव्य कथाएँ सुनायी देने लगीं। वह बिना खाये ही बेर पकाती और मंगलमयी कथाएँ सुनती रही। इतनेमें ही बारह वर्षोकी वह भयंकर अनावृष्टि समाप्त हो गयी। वह अत्यन्त दारुण समय उसके लिये एक दिनके समान व्यतीत हो गया
divyā manoramāḥ puṇyāḥ kathāḥ śuśrāva sā tadā | atītā sā tv anāvṛṣṭir ghorā dvādaśavārṣikī ||
Naquele momento ela ouviu narrativas sagradas, encantadoras e celestiais. Nesse ínterim, chegou ao fim a terrível seca que durara doze anos. Assim, aquele período duríssimo passou para ela como se fosse um único dia—sustentada pelo poder purificador das histórias auspiciosas e pela paciente perseverança.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the sustaining and purifying force of śravaṇa—listening to sacred, auspicious narratives—which helps one endure prolonged hardship with steadiness; even severe suffering can feel shortened when borne with inner support and faith.
Vaiśampāyana reports that a woman hears holy, delightful, divine stories, and during this period the terrible twelve-year drought passes and finally ends, with the time of distress seeming to pass swiftly.
