दत्त्वा चैव बहून् दायान् विप्राणां विप्रवत्सल: । धर्मात्मा विप्रवत्सल हलधर बलरामजीने उस तीर्थमें स्नान करके ब्राह्मणोंको बहुत धनका दान किया
dattvā caiva bahūn dāyān viprāṇāṁ vipravatsalaḥ | dharmātmā vipravatsalaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana disse: “Afeiçoado aos brâmanes e devotado ao dharma, Balarāma, o Portador do Arado, banhou-se naquele tīrtha e concedeu aos brâmanes abundantes dádivas de riqueza.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores dāna as a dharmic duty: supporting brāhmaṇas—seen as preservers of sacred knowledge and ritual order—through generous gifts is portrayed as a mark of a righteous character (dharmātmā).
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) describes a righteous figure, characterized as vipravatsala, giving abundant donations to brāhmaṇas—an action typically associated with pilgrimage merit and the maintenance of social-religious order.
