Saptasārasvata-tīrtha-prasaṅgaḥ | The Saptasārasvata Pilgrimage Account and the Maṅkaṇaka Narrative

तत्र गर्गेण वृद्धेन तपसा भावितात्मना

Vaiśampāyana uvāca | tatra gargeṇa vṛddhena tapasā bhāvitātmanā, janamejaya, tatra sarasvatyāḥ śubhe tīrthe kālajñānaṃ kālagatiṃ grahāṇāṃ nakṣatrāṇāṃ ca viparyayaṃ dāruṇānutpātān śubhalakṣaṇāni ca sarvāṇy etāni jñātāni | tasyaiva nāmnā tat tīrthaṃ gargasrota iti khyātam ||

Vaiśampāyana disse: Ali, ó Janamejaya, o velho sábio Garga—com o íntimo purificado e fortalecido pela austeridade—naquele auspicioso vau do Sarasvatī veio a compreender o conhecimento do Tempo e o curso do Tempo, as inversões e movimentos irregulares de planetas e constelações, presságios terríveis e também sinais favoráveis. Por seu próprio nome, aquele lugar sagrado passou a ser conhecido como Gargasrota.
