The verse highlights how unchecked conflict becomes 'nirmaryāda'—crossing ethical boundaries. It implicitly warns that when restraint (maryādā) collapses, violence escalates into an irresistible force, challenging dharmic conduct even among renowned warriors.
Sañjaya describes the intensifying combat in which Kṛpācārya fights the five Pāṇḍava brothers. The struggle is likened to a single embodied self contending with the five senses, emphasizing the overwhelming, many-sided pressure of facing five opponents and the growing ferocity of the battle.
