Śalya-hatānantarāṇi: Madrarāja-padānugānāṃ praskandana and the Pandava counter-encirclement (शल्यहतानन्तराणि—मद्रराजपदानुगानां प्रस्कन्दनम्)
एवमेतन्महाराज युद्धशेषमवर्तत । तव दुर्मन्त्रिते राजन् सह पुत्रस्य भारत,महाराज! भरतवंशी नरेश! इस प्रकार पुत्रसहित आपकी कुमन्त्रणासे इस युद्धका अन्त हुआ
evam etan mahārāja yuddhaśeṣam avartata | tava durmantrite rājan saha putrasya bhārata ||
Sañjaya disse: “Assim foi, ó grande rei: desse modo se deu o que restava e o desfecho final da guerra. Ó rei, descendente de Bharata, ela terminou por teu mau conselho—junto com teu filho.”
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores moral causality in governance: a ruler’s flawed counsel and unethical policy (durmantrita) can bring collective ruin, culminating in catastrophic outcomes for the kingdom and even one’s own heirs.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the war has reached its final remainder and conclusion, explicitly attributing this tragic end to the king’s misguided decisions and counsel, along with the involvement and fate of his son.
