Śalya-hatānantarāṇi: Madrarāja-padānugānāṃ praskandana and the Pandava counter-encirclement (शल्यहतानन्तराणि—मद्रराजपदानुगानां प्रस्कन्दनम्)
ततः: शल्ये निपतिते मद्रराजानुजो युवा
tataḥ śalye nipatite madrarājānujo yuvā
Disse Sañjaya: Então, quando Śalya tombou, avançou o jovem irmão do rei de Madra (Śalya)—sinal da próxima virada na sombria sucessão da batalha, em que parentesco e dever impelem os guerreiros a ocupar o lugar dos caídos.
