Śalya–Yudhiṣṭhira Duel and the Discharge of the Śakti (शल्यवधप्रसङ्गः)
तत्र यन्मानसं महां तत् सर्व निगदामि व: । चक्ररक्षाविमौ वीरौ मम माद्रवतीसुती
tatra yan mānasaṃ mahān tat sarvaṃ nigadāmi vaḥ | cakrarakṣāv imau vīrau mama mādravatīsutī ||
Sañjaya disse: “Ali, relatarei a vós por completo a grande resolução que surgiu em suas mentes. Esses dois heróis—filhos de Mādravatī—puseram-se como protetores da roda do carro, guardando-a com coragem inabalável em meio ao aperto da batalha.”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma in practice: steadfastly protecting a vital point (the chariot wheel) and fulfilling one’s assigned duty with courage and loyalty, even amid danger.
Sañjaya, narrating the battle events, announces that he will describe the warriors’ significant resolve; he notes that the two sons of Mādrī (Nakula and Sahadeva) are acting as protectors of the chariot wheel, guarding it in the combat situation.
