Book 9 (Śalya-parva), Adhyāya 13 — Arjuna’s Arrow-storm and the Drauṇi Confrontation
The verse highlights how krodha (anger) can seize even a renowned hero; in the Mahābhārata’s ethical frame, wrath is a powerful catalyst that can propel a warrior into action, but it also risks clouding discernment (viveka) and escalating violence beyond measured dharma.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Sātyaki, famed for unwavering valor, has become angry at a particular opponent or provocateur mentioned in the surrounding verses, setting up the next beat of combat or retaliation.
