अध्याय ९ — दुर्योधनस्य अन्त्यावस्था, विलापः, तथा सौप्तिक-प्रतिवृत्तम्
Duryodhana’s Final Condition, Lamentation, and the Night’s Report
“एक तो आप रणभूमिमें अधर्मपूर्वक मारे गये। दूसरे भीमसेनने आपके मस्तकपर लात मारी। इतनेपर भी जिन्होंने उस नीचकी उपेक्षा की, उसे कोई दण्ड नहीं दिया, उन श्रीकृष्ण और युधिष्ठिरको धिक्कार है! ।।

yuddheṣv apavadīṣyanti yodhā nūnaṃ vṛkodaram |
yāvat sthāsyanti bhūtāni nikṛtyā hṛṣi pātitaḥ ||
Sañjaya disse: “Primeiro, foste morto no campo de batalha por meios injustos. Segundo, Bhīmasena ainda te chutou a cabeça. E, apesar disso, aqueles que ignoraram tal vileza e não lhe impuseram castigo—malditos sejam Kṛṣṇa e Yudhiṣṭhira! Os guerreiros certamente difamarão Vṛkodara (Bhīma) em toda guerra; enquanto os seres vivos perdurarem neste mundo, lembrar-se-ão de que foste derrubado por engano e abatido.”
