अध्यतिष्ठत तेजस्वी रथं प्राप्प सुदर्शनम् स तस्य भवनादू राजन् निष्क्रम्यानादयन् दिश:
adhyatiṣṭhat tejasvī rathaṃ prāpya sudarśanam | sa tasya bhavanād rājann niṣkramyānādayan diśaḥ ||
Disse Sañjaya: O guerreiro radiante montou seu carro, belo de se ver. Depois, ó Rei, saindo daquela morada, pôs-se a caminho, dirigindo o curso para as direções, com propósito firme, quando a sombria tarefa da guerra noturna estava prestes a se desenrolar.
